Divine Mercy Sunday is celebrated on the Sunday after Easter. Catholics celebrate the Feast of Divine Mercy as a reminder of God's everlasting mercy — from Jesus's crucifixion through today.

'Divine Mercy' was revealed to Sr. Faustina Kowalska, a Polish nun who experienced visions of Jesus and had conversations with Him. According to her diary, Jesus asked St. Faustina to paint the vision of Divine Mercy being poured out from His heart. Jesus also asked for the feast of Divine Mercy to be established so all people could come to trust in Him. Pope John Paul II explained in his homily on the first-ever universal Divine Mercy Sunday that the message brought by St. Faustina is "the appropriate and incisive answer that God wanted to offer the questions and expectations of human beings in our time, marked by terrible tragedies." It was a timely reminder that His mercy endures forever.

When Pope John Paul II announced the installation of Divine Mercy Sunday he declared, "This is the happiest day of my life."

A depiction of the image painted according to St. Faustina's vision can be seen here at the Basilica of Divine Mercy in Krakow, Poland.

Devotion to Divine Mercy spread rapidly after the installation of the Feast. Today, the Grotto team invites you to join us in reflecting on Jesus's Divine Mercy through the playlist below.

"Mankind will not have peace until it turns with trust to My mercy." —Jesus to St. Faustina
