Watch this video about Morgan Crier's commitment to global citizenship for herself and the students she guides through the study abroad process.

After doing a study abroad program in Canada, Morgan Crier knew she wanted to travel to more countries. Now, she works for Notre Dame Global (formerly Notre Dame International) and helps guide students to the right study abroad program for them. Morgan's goal has been to put forth global citizens and this work is part of that journey.

Morgan shares, "I've always been passionate about traveling. I've always been passionate about the world around me. And now, I can share that passion with someone else."

Video Transcript

Morgan Crier: In 60 seconds how many countries I can name that I've been to? So Canada, Mexico, Cayman Island, Belize, Honduras, Bahamas, Jamaica, Vietnam, Thailand, China. I lived in China. Why am I forgetting that one? London, Ireland, France. I lived in Budapest. I lived in Greece. Oh, my gosh. Oh, my gosh, I can't think of another one right now. Spain, Croatia, Poland.

My name is Morgan Crier and I work at Notre Dame for Notre Dame International. I work on the summer study abroad team as a program coordinator slash advisor. The first country I went to on my own was Canada, and that was for my study abroad program. From there, I knew Canada wasn't going to be the limit. What's your name?

What’s your name?

Student: I'm Drew.

Morgan: Drew? Nice to meet you, Drew. Hi, Hazel. Nice to meet you both. So are you committed?

Hazel: Yes.

Morgan: Oh, my gosh. I know that's really exciting. So what are you looking…

This event is for Admitted Students Day. So these are all the students that have been admitted to the university and they're considering Notre Dame. And so our table is just basically for international study abroad. We want to make sure that we put it in the student's face and make it very present for them so that they optimize their experience here. I feel really energized when it comes to talking to people, and especially when it comes to study abroad. It's my hope, my goal, my dream that we can put forth global citizens. And I think that Notre Dame is making the right efforts and strive to do that.

I've always been passionate about traveling. I've always been passionate about the world around me. And now, I can share that passion with someone else. There's so many students that come into my office and they're excited about studying abroad, but they don't know where to start. And I'm able to help guide them in the right direction and open up a whole new world for them. It doesn't really have anything to do with me. I'm just handing them the baton, that's it. I think there's this huge misconception about what a traveler looks like, specifically for Black women in the US, African Americans.

I think it's so important for us to have these experiences, to broaden our horizons, but then also to let people know that we are here. We deserve these experiences just as much as the next person, and we are worthy of that wanderlust as well. Spread your Black girl magic around the globe. Don't just let it stay in the area that you're in. And once you make it over there, bring someone else with you. Be a trailblazer. Lead that path and then make that way for other people to come after you.
