Stephen Hawking, British-born theoretical physicist, cosmologist, and popular author, died March 14 at the age of 76.Church leaders took to social media to praise Hawking for his scientific contributions.Bishop Robert Barron shared on Facebook, “Friends, I just learned of the passing of Stephen Hawking, one of the greatest scientists of our time. Though he was often critical of religion and skeptical about God, let's thank the Lord for his many scientific contributions and pray for the repose of his soul.”The Pontifical Academy of Sciences, to which Hawking belonged, shared several tweets commemorating his life and professional legacy.
