The feast day of St. John Bosco is celebrated on January 31.

St. John Bosco was a well-loved Italian priest, educator, and writer in the 1800s. He dedicated his life to improving the lives of disadvantaged young people, including founding a school that practiced restorative justice methods of discipline, rather than the corporal punishment methods that were most common at the time. He believed that love should be a part of everything we do, and advocated for education of both the mind and spirit.

He is the patron saint of editors, publishers, schoolchildren, young people, magicians, and juvenile delinquents.

Get to know St. John Bosco through this playlist inspired by his life — featuring artists The Oh Hellos, Alabama Shakes, and Johnnyswim, and themes of second chances and unconditional love.
