We celebrate the Feast of the Visitation on May 31. After the angel Gabriel tells Mary that she will conceive Jesus, she goes to visit her cousin Elizabeth, whom the angel told Mary has conceived a child in her old age. The Gospel of Luke tells us that when Elizabeth heard Mary's voice, her baby "leaped in her womb" and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.

She said to Mary, "Most blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb," which Catholics now recite in the Hail Mary prayer. Mary responds with her Magnificat, praising God for all He has done for her. Mary stayed with Elizabeth for three months.

Following the prompting of the Holy Spirit, Mary left the comfort of her home to serve her pregnant cousin. The Visitation was surely a joyful time for these two holy women.

Where might God be calling you to go and serve? Join Grotto in celebrating this joyful feast by listening to this Spotify playlist, featuring artists Anthem Lights and the ZOE Group, and themes of hope and joy.
